“The North Country Community Safety Project continues to lay the groundwork for police reform at the local level.
Formed during last year’s social justice movement, the NCCSP has spent the past seven months gathering information, in order to better understand how local police departments do their jobs.”
Leadership
We are consensus driven. We build agreement within our members before acting. All members have the opportunity and are encouraged to bring forth ideas to the group. Ultimately all decisions are made collectively.
choice
Members work on the initiatives they believe in and choose their role in the group based on their individual strengths and interests. Though our individual beliefs may differ, we work collectively toward a common goal.
privacy
We respect all people’s privacy. No names or contact info will be shared with any entity (police department, press, etc.) without consent.
empathy
We practice empathy; we engage comrades with the intent to learn about and connect with their contexts.
diversity
We acknowledge, respect and celebrate differences and commonalities. We work vigorously for freedom and justice for all Black people and, by extension, all people of all backgrounds in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.
restorative
We intentionally build and nurture a beloved community that is bonded together through a beautiful struggle that is restorative, not depleting.
